RUSWIN INTEGRATED SECURITY SYSTEMS | QLD

What do you most enjoy about your work as a Locksmith?

Working as a locksmith with Ruswin for 10 years now I have had the chance to work at thousands of different sites right across Queensland which has offered many different challenges. Primarily working with Defence and large Mine sites with Drill and Blast teams, I am involved with some of the highest level of Security required and this offers new challenges every day.

Being with Ruswin for 10 years now I have moved through the ranks and currently supervise a team of 2 tradesmen and 2 apprentices. Working with young apprentices managing thier training to get them to a high level brings great satisfaction.

What are some of the skills and abilities necessary for someone to succeed as a locksmith?

I think the main skill required is good communication. Making customers feel safe that they have a quality tradesman is key to success.

Having great hand skills and quick thinking is also a massive help, letting you think on your feet to get the job done properly. Working hard and constantly looking to improve yourself by keeping your knowledge base up-to-date is also important.

What are your career goals?

My main career goals would be continue to work with Ruswin as the team we have here are amazing and they have supported me through my apprenticeship and other challenges I have faced in my time here. We have a real family company that are amazing to work for and constantly drive you to better yourself and keep you up to date with training courses.

What does winning the award of ‘Australia’s Best Young Locksmith’ mean to you?

Winning this award would mean a great deal to be recognised as one of the best young Locksmiths in Australia. I love what I do and every day is a new challenge and getting recognition for the hard work I have put in in my years of training and years of work would mean a great deal to me.
